Show Off Your Toes This Summer with KeryFlex™ Nail Restoration

Updated: Aug 14, 2018

With summer fast approaching, flip-flops and sandals are sure to be the shoes of the season. Are

you ready to show the world your toes, though? If not, don't worry because it is not too late! Instead of covering up those misshapen (and perhaps fungal) toenails with nail polish, there is another solution: KeryFlex™ Nail Restoration.

What is KeryFlex™?

KeryFlex™ is a synthetic resin that is applied to a person's natural nail, after debridement, and produces a nonporous artificial nail using UV light.

How is it different from acrylic nails that are typically done at a nail salon?

Acrylic nails are more rigid and are applied using strong acids, which can both irritate and possibly damage the skin underneath. KeryFlex™ is non-porous (restricts moisture), more flexible, and free of cruel acids used in salons. Its resin also contains an anti-fungal component (1).

Uses: (in both men and women!)

It can be used alone, or in combination with oral medications and/or laser treatment for the treatment of nail fungus. Other indications include nail trauma, brittle nails, and nail dystrophy caused by local and systemic conditions. It is safe to use with nail polishes and acetone (1). It is not recommended for those without a nail plate or certain runners as it increases the risk of it falling off.

Why KeryFlex™?

There are very few good options when it comes to treating nail fungus and other nail dystrophies. Keryflex™ is a safe alternative to creating a cosmetic nail that does not irritate the skin. The risk of infection is less compared to outside nail pedicure salons.

KeryFlex™ Application:

What to expect the day of treatment

Your nails are trimmed, filed, and/or debrided back, leaving a small portion of your natural nail intact. It is important to have a nail plate for KeryFlex™ to hold onto. KeryFlex™ is applied and then allowed to set and seal using UV light for approximately 2 minutes. Final touches are made to shape and/or smoothen the nail(s). The doctor will give you aftercare instructions following the application. The interval between KeryFlex™ applications varies, but the average toenail grows about 1 mm per month, so scheduling for your next application in about 8 wks is recommended.
